Budget Breakdown: October 2021

I hope that you’re ready for the spookiest budget of the year πŸ‘»πŸŽƒ☠️ October was really nice! Fall is always beautiful where I’m at, so I loved getting to watch the leaves change.  Other than that though, this month honestly wasn’t too eventful. I saw a movie, hung out with family, and finally broke out my cold weather clothes.  Enough about that, though, let’s get into the interesting part… Food:  Notice anything different about this month’s food budget?! How about it going up by 50 whole dollars! This month it was nice to have some extra money going toward groceries. πŸ‘ŒπŸΌπŸ‘ŒπŸΌπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ I’m talking turkey burgers, stir-fry, and yes, brand-name condiments. Overall, I felt like I spent more on good quality foods this month, so that’s always a plus.  I’ve been talking about increasing my food budget for a while, so I decided to try out $150/ month and see how that felt. So far so good!  πŸ™ŒπŸΌ Gas: Gas is on the climb where I live! 🀷🏽‍♀️  My goal for Nove...

Budget Breakdown September 2021

So… I guess it’s fall now? Between hiking, the leaves changing, and a couple rainy days, I am ready to embrace the new season! But we’ll get to that—in the meantime, here’s the tea on my expenses for the month of September: Food:  Sadly, a little over-budget again.  I’m sensing a theme here… Even with the free food from house sitting for a family member (see rent category below), I’ve still been going over-budget. 🀦🏽‍♀️ I calculated that my new lunch rotation has been taking up a surprisingly large portion of my grocery budget, and because this makes a few months in a row now of going over budget in the food category, keep your eyes out for an increase in October’s food budget πŸ˜‰  On the plus side, I’m happy to say at least that I perfected some of my meal prep staple recipes and made a killer loaf of homemade bread. It was GOOD.  Rent:  Rent this month was πŸ‘ŒπŸΌπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ. I’m privileged enough that my current roommate only charges me for the days I’m actually...

Budget Breakdown: August 2021

New place, new me! August for me meant a move, so this month I had all new budgeting needs including:  - a   new rent payment   -new clothes  -a new hobby Here’s the monthly breakdown: Rent : Let me tell you why I loved August: With a new roommate and a new place, I am happy to declare that this new rent is now the lowest it’s even been! To make it even better, included in my rent now is all utilities and Wi-fi. My wallet is definitely happy about the change πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ The total listed in the bottom of this post is actually for some of August’s  and all of September’s rent as I moved in mid- August. Food : Can a girl still brag about her low food spending even if she went over- budget? I’m going to say yes.  I think considering the fact that my $110 spent this month on food includes eating out with a friend, I think that I did pretty well.  It was, however, over my budgeted amount of $100 for the month. Not gonna lie, I have started to reconsider my bel...
